Congratulations on your new home! Now that you’ve moved in there is still a lot more to do besides unpack. Here is a helpful checklist to consider when settling into your new home.

1. Keep all receipts and documentation related to your move in a safe secure place.
2. Make sure all your services are up and running, utilities, cable, telephone etc.
3. Check all major appliances and electronics to make sure nothing was damaged during the move and everything is working properly.
4. If you have moved out of state you’ll need to get a new driver’s license, tags and/or plates for your vehicle. Check your local DMV for more information.
5. Register your child(ren) for school.
6. Register your new address with the post office by filling out a change of address form. This is to make sure all your mail is being forwarded to the correct address.
7. Get finances in order, set up new accounts, transfer money or order new checks with your new address.
8. Contact the Department of Sanitation to see when trash will be picked up in your area.
9. Search for new health professionals and have your medical records transferred.
10. Register to vote.
